Ramphotyphlops braminus (Daudin) Common Worm/Blind Snake
Common worm snake or blind snake can be easily mistaken for an earthworm to the naked human eyes except by careful observation of their body scales and eyes (which are reduced to black dots due to underground habitat). If observed more carefully, you can also see its bi-forked tongue flickering at intervals like any other snakes. It is a completely harmless snake with its pointed tail used for mock stinging which can’t even pierce our skin. It’s commonly found under loose soil, stones or leaf litter and debris. And the easiest way to tell it apart from earth worm is, it moves like a snake.
