Rat-snake (Ptyas mucosus)

This is quite a common and large snake found throughout Indian subcontinent. The color varies among individuals, mostly blackish or yellowish. It moves swiftly among low undergrowths and is an agile climber as well as good swimmer. It also frequents human inhabitation  in search of food. It is non-venomous but can bite viciously if handled. It's fully intact sloughs (shedded skins) can be found on agricultural fields.
